Trick Or Treat

Johnny Depp and Halle Berry have something in common this Halloween: their characters (in the Pirates of the Caribbean series and Catwoman, respectively) are your top inspirations for movie-related Halloween costumes, according to a recent survey by Fandango, the nation's leading moviegoer destination. In an online poll in September, Fandango asked you what you're most likely to wear for this year's Halloween festivities. Here are the results:

Women

1. Catwoman (Halle Berry), Catwoman
   This kitten is all grown- up in black leather, stiletto heels and red lipstick. This form-fitting costume will certainly grab the attention of a room full of partygoers. Me-ow!
2. Tinkerbell, Peter Pan
   If you're going for “cute” this Halloween, then Tink's your gal. Put on some tights, fairy wings and you're off to Neverland.
3. Cinderella
   She's our favorite fairytale princess who snagged her Prince Charming with a little help of a fairy godmother. But don't fret if you don't have access to someone with a magic wand, all you need is a blue gown and a pair of glass slippers. Leave the pumpkin at home and you can stay out way past midnight.

4. Lara Croft (Angelina Jolie), Lara Croft: Tomb Raider
   It's been a long time since we've had a kick-butt adventurer who does it all in teeny, tight shorts. And for that, we all love her. Put on your best Angelina pout and you're ready to raid the candy bowl!
5. Cleopatra (Elizabeth Taylor)
   As the original diva of the desert, she ruled the land in golden crowns, too much jewelry and extravagant dresses. Add some heavy black eyeliner and you'll be the hottest thing this side of the Nile.
6. Dorothy (Judy Garland), The Wizard of Oz
   Click those red-glitter heels together and maybe you'll be off to see the wizard this Halloween.
7. Princess Leia (Carrie Fisher), Star Wars
   Who ever thought that buns on the side of your head could be so cool? But, when you add a laser gun and a long white robe (or a golden metal bikini), you will definitely rule the galaxy!
8. The Girl Next Door (Marilyn Monroe), The Seven Year Itch
   If you're looking for a little glamour this year, it doesn't get any better than Marilyn Monroe's  simple white dress in this famous film. Of course, it's more evocative when you stand by a fan or air conditioner and try to hold that skirt down.
9. Edna Turnblad (John Travolta), Hairspray
   You'll need to don a beehive hairdo, sparkly dresses, a few strategically-placed pillows – and of course, the ability to burst into song on a moment's notice. Enormously popular with men and women alike!
10. Elizabeth Swann (Keira Knightley), Pirates of the Caribbean
    Whether you choose to dress up as an elegant Elizabeth, donning an Asian-inspired outfit or a princess gown, or as a rugged swashbuckler, this costume will surely make the gentleman pirates say “Ahoy matey!”

Honorable Mentions:

1. Holly Golightly (Audrey Hepburn), Breakfast at Tiffany's
   This sexy and sophisticated cocktail frock will fit in at any social soiree. Ultra-long (and politically incorrect) cigarette-holder optional.
2. TheWicked Witch of the West (Margaret Hamilton), The Wizard of Oz
   This evil sister takes being green to a new level. Add some flying monkeys and you're all set!

Men

1. Captain Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp), Pirates of the Caribbean
   Our favorite movie pirate can wiggle his way out of any situation with the help of his good looks, super suave attitude and maybe a little too much rum. Throw on some black eye liner, a three-cornered hat and step out for some good old fashioned fun!
2. Spider-Man (Tobey Maguire)
   No one slings a Web quite like this guy, especially when he's wearing red boots, blue tights and spider-webbed mask. Just don't get too carried away and try to impress fellow partygoers with your climbing abilities (or lack thereof).
3.  Dracula (Bela Lugosi)
   He's the original vampire that inspired all those movies so many years later. With his popped collar, black cape and frightening fangs, this classic disguise is sure to scare the pants off most trick-r-treaters.
4. Batman (Christian Bale), Batman Begins
   Bruce Wayne by day and the ultimate crime fighter by night.  This superhero does it all in black tights, a bat mask with pointy ears and a utility belt. And with the new Dark Knight coming out, you'll be way ahead of the trend.
5. Harry Potter  (Daniel Radcliffe)
   When it comes to wizardry and wands, no one beats this boy wonder.  Throw on a black robe, some round spectacles and you just might be ready for Hogwarts.

6. Superman (Brandon Routh), Superman Returns
   This Krypton native is a crowd-pleaser in blue tights and a red cape. And if you're feeling really creative, you can disguise your superhuman abilities in the mysterious Clark Kent alter ego.
7. Darth Vader (played by Dave Prowse, voiced by James Earl Jones), Star Wars
   As the master of the Death Star, this guy sure knows how to get a party started in his black cape, body armor and helmet. Just make sure that your friends don't misunderstand all the heavy breathing you will be doing inside that mask.
8. Indiana Jones (Harrison Ford), Raiders of the Lost Ark
   The famed archaeologist can tackle anything with his trusty bullwhip, leather jacket and trademark fedora hat.
9. Wolverine (Hugh Jackman), X-Men
   This X-Men mutant can survive any situation with his super keen animal instincts, yellow tights and sharp, retractable claws. Just watch those claws when you hit the dance floor!

10. Borat  (Sacha Baron Cohen)
    This small-town Kazakhstani boy has made the green floss Speedo mankini a must-have in beach wear. If you have the confidence to wear this one, you are guaranteed to be the center of attention. Or put on a gray suit, fluffly wig and wave an American flag.

Honorable Mentions:

1. Napoleon Dynamite (Jon Heder)
   He danced his way into our hearts and brought geek-chic to the masses. Hit up your local thrift shop for that perfect 70's suit or if you're lucky, you might find a pair of moon boots and a sweet liger t-shirt!
2. Austin Powers  (Mike Meyers)

Grab those nasty fake teeth, psychedelic scarf and an ultra hip velvet suit, and you'll be the ultimate ladies' man, at lest in your own mind.
